21-23 May we welcome GUEST MUSICAL THEATRE and COLLECTIVE VOICES PRACTITIONER Richard Marrett to Hanmer.

Richard works throughout the country as a music director, vocal coach, pianist, producer, arranger and conductor. He has an MA (Music) and LRSM.

He has worked as Musical Director on some 27 shows for The Court Theatre, beginning with My Fair Lady in 2001, through to 9 t o 5 this year past. Other productions number more than 50 titles and recently have included Matilda, Come From Away and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory .

Richard counts several concerts with Christchurch Symphony Orchestra among his career highlights, and he is also responsible for the musical supervision of several New Zealand touring productions. He previously worked as a principal lecturer and manager of the degree programmes offered by the National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Art (NASDA) and Ara Music Arts.

For the past seven years as Artistic Director of The Vocal Collective, Richard has refined his approach to performing contemporary, rock and pop styles in choir and ensemble settings.

Often working with customised arrangements, he is known for his unique ability to imbue the performance experience with accuracy, joy and impact.
