Kia ora! Welcome to WAIATA MAI – SING, SING, SING A LONG TIME!
Over the last three years, I’ve loved creating these songs and tunes to bring caregivers, leaders, and groups together. My heart behind this project is simple: to spark joy, connection, and well-being through the power of shared song and stories.
Built into these simple, easy-to-learn melodies is a unique method called Ngā Waikupuiti. Evolving from traditional Solfeggio, it blends colour distinctions with waikupuiti (small sung words) which has helped my pronunciation and understanding of te reo Māori.
Whether you're at home or leading a group, I have books and tutorials ready to help you on your journey. Let's sing together!
‘The tutorials are for learners, leaders, parents and caregivers who desire to improve their singing ability.
You will learn to distinguish notes, the foundations for music theory & my hope is you'll be able to guide more musicians in the making’.

Ngā Pukapuka Whakakao – Interactive Colouring Books
Welcome to a space where music, colour, and learning flow together. These pukapuka whakakao (colouring books) are designed to weave a powerful, meaningful connection from the hand to the brain, and from your voice deep into the body.
How It Works: The Magic of Colour & Sound
Each text colour in these songs is beautifully pitch-matched to a relative major musical scale. By listening, singing, and colouring all at once, your senses become fully immersed, helping you absorb musical concepts naturally and joyfully.
Nurturing Your Natural Ability: So many of my students easily unlock their musical potential when surrounded by safe, encouraging relationships and nurturing environments.
Balancing the Brain: Matching specific colours brings a gentle, left-brain focus to the distinct pitches and notes within each waiata.
The Sonic Code: Over time, these colours link to a specific waikupuiti sound. This creates a playful "sonic code" that naturally trains the ear to recognize the feeling and sound of a pitch.
How to use them: Simply match the text colours to the Tauine (scale guides) right at the edges of the page!
